Why is Base Coat important?

Is it a good idea to skip base coat? Is it worth it? What benefit does it offer?

Applying a base coat to your nails prior to polish application is a vital part of your manicure, pedicure or polish and shape service. I’ve written this short blog to inform about the benefits of having a base coat and the downsides if you don’t.

Skipping a base coat can lead to chipping or peeling, impacting your polish or gel and therefore affect the longevity of your manicure. Ignoring this vital step when doing your nails should not be an option.

Base coat is designed primarily for regular/gel polish/builder gel to adhere to but there are lots of other benefits to the extra layer such as:-

· it protects your nails from staining

· it fills in ridges and imperfections

· it creates a smooth surface ready for the colour polish
